Trauma & PTSD

Healing at your own pace

Traumatic experiences can leave lasting effects on how we think, feel, and experience the world. I provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your experiences and work toward healing.

Understanding Trauma & PTSD

Trauma can affect many areas of life.

Trauma can influence how we experience our emotions, relationships, sleep, concentration, and sense of safety. You may notice changes in how you respond to situations, interact with others, or feel about yourself. Not everyone experiences trauma in the same way, and experiencing these symptoms does not necessarily mean someone has PTSD.Whatever you've experienced, your feelings and responses deserve to be approached with care, compassion, and understanding.

Common trauma-related experiences include:

  • Intrusive memories or distressing thoughts.

  • Nightmares or difficulty sleeping.

  • Feeling constantly on alert or unsafe.

  • Increased anxiety or irritability.

  • Avoiding certain situations or reminders.

  • Emotional numbness or feeling disconnected.

  • Difficulty concentrating.

  • Challenges with trust and relationships.

  • Feeling overwhelmed by emotions.

My Approach to Trauma Treatment

Individualized care, without pressure or judgment.

I believe trauma treatment should be collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your experiences, needs, and goals. There is no expectation to rush through difficult experiences or share more than you feel ready to discuss.

Our work may include developing coping skills, processing experiences when appropriate, strengthening your sense of safety, and reconnecting with your values and relationships.

Trauma-Focused Therapeutic Approaches

Evidence-informed support for your healing journey.

Depending on your needs and goals, I may incorporate different therapeutic approaches into our work.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

An evidence-based treatment for PTSD that helps you understand and work through beliefs that may have developed following traumatic experiences.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

A therapeutic approach that uses guided eye movements and imagery techniques to help work with distressing memories and experiences.

Additional Therapeutic Strategies

Other therapeutic strategies may be incorporated to support emotional regulation, mindfulness, self-compassion, and the development of practical coping skills.

Healing Doesn't Follow a Straight Line

There is no perfect timeline for healing.

Healing from trauma is not always a straightforward process. There may be moments when you feel stronger and more connected, and other times when things feel uncertain or difficult.

That doesn't mean you're moving backward. Sometimes meaningful progress involves learning to recognize a difficult emotion, feeling safer in everyday situations, establishing a boundary, or understanding a past experience differently.

My goal is not to rush you through your experiences, but to support you in a way that feels meaningful to you.

Reconnecting With What Matters

Your experiences are part of your story, but they don't have to define your future.

Trauma can make it difficult to feel connected to yourself, your relationships, and the things that once brought meaning to your life.

Therapy can provide an opportunity to explore those experiences while reconnecting with your strengths, values, relationships, and goals.

Everyone's journey is different. You deserve support that respects your experiences and recognizes your capacity for growth.

You Don't Have to Navigate This Alone

Taking the first step can feel overwhelming. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. We can begin wherever you are.
